Roberta retired after working for the government for 31 years. She was living on a fixed income, but was doing fine until circumstances required her to take in her three young grandchildren. She was ashamed to ask for help at first, but finally turned to her local food pantry for help. With their support, she was able to receive the food necessary for her family to get by. Roberta is now going back to school to earn a degree in medical billing and coding - a second career that will help her better provide for her grandchildren.
