As 2013 draws to a close, Feeding America would like to highlight the tremendous size and scope of our efforts to provide food and groceries to low-income families throughout our nation.

Here's a snapshot of what we accomplish together each and every week of the year...

Watching college-aged men show others the value of serving those around them can change a person's stereotype, perspective and even their life. This past summer I was able to inform over 500 undergraduate men that our organization, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, has become a partner with Feeding America in the fight to end hunger.

My work with Feeding America has helped me understand that every individual and organization has a role to play in ending hunger. No matter your background or the career path you've chosen, I hope you realize you are an important piece of the puzzle to end hunger.

The final day of training, after we had done all our technical learning, we gathered in a circle on the floor to reflect. We shared our achievements, personal goals, and praises for the group as a whole. It was incredibly moving for me to experience the genuine sense of accomplishment and pride we shared with each other. In my, albeit limited, experience, love of this kind is rare among co-workers. I never felt more fortunate to be a part of Cohort 2 than I did in that moment, and it reminded me that there has undoubtedly been a greater purpose to our work than our ability to send our programs off into a steady and unwavering future...
